Commercial Transparency & Standards

Advertising Policy

How LawScope maintains editorial integrity while accepting commercial advertising and sponsorships.

Strict Separation Between Advertising & Editorial

LawScope funds its operations and extensive legal research through transparent advertising, sponsorships, and commercial partnerships. However, our primary commitment is to our readers. We enforce a strict, inviolable separation between editorial decision-making and commercial revenue streams.

Advertisers and commercial sponsors have zero influence over:

  • Which legal topics, statutes, or court cases we choose to cover.
  • The substance, analysis, or statutory conclusions reached in our guides.
  • Our legal comparison matrices, state variation breakdowns, or FAQ answers.
  • The publication, modification, or removal of educational content.

Clear Labeling & Non-Deceptive Placements

In strict compliance with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines and Google Publisher Policies, all advertising on LawScope is clearly and conspicuously distinguishable from educational editorial content:

  • Conspicuous Badging: Commercial ads are labeled with terms such as "Advertisement," "Sponsored," or "Ad."
  • No Deceptive Placements: We do not place advertisements where they can reasonably be mistaken for navigational buttons, legal statutory text, or editorial recommendations.
  • No Cloaked Links: Sponsored partner links or affiliate recommendations are clearly designated and coded with appropriate rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow" attributes.
  • No Interference with Reading: We do not deploy intrusive popups, deceptive click-to-continue interstitials, or auto-playing media that impairs the reading experience.

Prohibited Advertising Categories

To maintain user trust, LawScope strictly rejects commercial advertisements from several industry categories:

  • Predatory lending, payday loans, or deceptive debt relief schemes.
  • Guaranteed legal outcomes or misleading legal representation claims.
  • Unlicensed legal document preparation services masquerading as formal legal counsel.
  • Deceptive "get-rich-quick" schemes or false financial instruments.
  • Malicious software, spyware, or deceptive tracking technologies.
Non-Endorsement Disclaimer

The appearance of an advertisement on LawScope does not constitute an endorsement, guarantee, or warranty by LawScope of the advertised product, service, legal technology, law firm, or business entity. Users should independently evaluate all commercial offerings before engaging in financial or contractual commitments.
